The trio, in separate interviews during the exercise, called for proper waste management and protection of the environment.

Mrs Deola Olatunbosun, President, Lagos-Isolo Lions Club 404 B-1, said that the club had set apart April for care and protection of the environment.

Olatunbosun said she was delighted working with Oando and the NCF on the Ilasamaja Clean-up.

She decried the indiscriminate use of equipment that are not environmentally friendly.

“In whatever we do, let us remember that the environment is all that we have, we have to take good care of it,” she said.

Mrs Abidemi Balogun, Head, NCF Environmental Education, said that the goal of the exercise was to instill attitudinal change to waste management within the Ilasamaja community.

According to Balogun, there is the need to properly dispose waste in order to maintain integrity of the environment.

Also, Bale of Ilasamaja community, Lion Fatal Abereijo Adeshina, thanked Oando Foundation for the good work they were doing in the community.

Adeshina called on the residents of Ilasamaja to sustain the exercise by maintaining a clean and healthy environment always.

Oando Foundation, Nigeria and Sumitomo Chemical in Japan have expanded the scope of partnership by initiating a project aimed at promoting environmental education and sustainable action for pupils in target schools.

The projects also targets host communities in Lagos State, with Nigerian Conservation Centre as the implementing partner.

The project tagged “Clean Our World” creates awareness about environmental issues and responsible practices.

It empowers children and teachers in seven public primary schools as well as host communities with the knowledge of plastic recycling and waste management whilst encouraging the adoption of eco-conscious lifestyles.
