Mr Ikharo Attah, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, who gave the advice during an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja, said the FCTA would not hesitate to bring down any illegal structure.

“I am making a fundamental appeal to residents of the Federal Capital Territory to work in accordance with the Urban and Regional Planning Act. This will help those of us in the enforcement team.

“I will be strict with enforcement because we need to own our city, and the task given to me is a tripartite one; Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement so with this, we will be looking at the territory in its entirety.

“I will ensure that contractors deliver good and quality services for our money. It is a multi tasking job.”

“I have been working since 2019 as Chairman, Traffic Management Team, COVID-19 Enforcement, and Chairman City Sanitation. For me it is just like going back to work.,” Attah said.

Attah also cautioned the public against building on waterways, flood prone areas, as well as erecting shanties and illegal structures.

“Those contravening the master plan by building illegal structures and shanties, we will give them notices, and when they fail to comply within the stipulated time, we will remove it in the interest of the public,” he said.
