NiMet envisages three-day dust haze from Monday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze weather condition from Monday, January 16 to Wednesday, January 18, 2023, across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday, January 15 in Abuja predicted slight dust haze over the North on Monday and the North-central regions during the forecast period.

According to it, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the inland cities of the South throughout the forecast period.

NiMet anticipated hazy atmosphere with few clouds over the coastal cities during the forecast period.

“For Tuesday, slight dust haze is expected over the North and the North-central region with the exception of Yobe, Jigawa, Kano and Katsina states.

“Moderate dust haze is expected at the region with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is anticipated during the forecast period.

“Moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the Inland cities of the South during the forecast period,” it said.

NiMet envisaged partly cloudy to cloudy condition to prevail over the coastal cities during the forecast period.

The agency forecast slight dust haze over the North on Wednesday.

It further forecast dust haze over the North-central and the Inland cities of the South throughout the forecast period.

It predicted partly cloudy to cloudy condition to prevail over the coastal cities during the forecast period.

“The public is advised to take necessary precautions due to dust particles presently in suspension over the atmosphere.

“Individuals with respiratory ailments are to protect themselves as the current dusty weather condition is adverse to their health.

“Night–time cold temperatures should be expected, hence, warm clothing are advised for the little ones,” it said.

According to it, all airline operators are advised to avail themselves of weather reports periodically from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
